Fiddleback Woodshack
Located in the High Desert of Central Oregon, Fiddleback Woodshack, a shop run by walnut lover Felly Smith, sources regional species of logs and lumber, as well as certain exotics, for luthiers around the world. Sometimes called African mahogany, Khaya has the rust color and ribbon grain that makes a decent substitute. The ribbons tend to be a bit wider than that of sapele, so that is nice. I have lots of these, save some money and buy these in packs of 5 for $100!
