Good strong figure on these spalted fiddleback western bigleaf maple sets. The spalting process, which is caused by microbes that stain the wood after the tree dies, also causes the otherwise white color to turn a rich cinna-honey tan flavor. And then there's the bright coloration and the black lines called mapping, which occur here and there on some of these sets. This is nice wood to work and will take an amazing polish, each set making for a very unique and beautiful guitar.
