This is Myrtlewood from southwestern Oregon, near the coast. It only grows in the coastal weather from Oregon down into some place called California, where they refer to it as Bay Laurel or Pepperwood. I had some amazing 18" wide figured lumber, and got some neck blanks as well as some great guitar sets that are long gone. Some subtle figuring and shimmer to these, very dense and clean for myrtle.
