Eastern birdseye maple is flatsawn for the strongest eye reveal. These are very active, not only with eyes but also plenty of figure, although it doesn't always show up so great in the pics. A lot of luthiers will use some color to bring out the shading around the figure, making it appear even stronger. These are the end of a run of kiln dried material that produced many lovely guitar sets as well.
