In 2024 I finally acquired part of Pacific NW legendary mess pile of 35 year air dryed figured bastogne walnut that I had been trying to get my hands on for years. The tree came from the border area of Oregon and California and was felled and milled around 1990, and has been drying ever since. Its hard to describe what its like to work with this material, its such a rare combination of old school and mature and stable and figured. Definitely dinosaur yesteryear wood. Its crisp yet easy to work, and very well behaved. The pedigree on this stuff is tough to match, as such there are a very limited number of these sets.
